Community Conversations Project is a learning communty that holds space allowing people to share their stories and collectively pay attention to what emerges for actionalble change on both personal and social levels.

Our facilitators use dialogue, asset based community development, and action planning to support individual engagment, creativity and collaborative innovation.

Community Conversations Project is an open source project.

Our Story:

In Nov. 2008, A group of professional trainers and consultants gathered to discover ways to make a difference in the lives of individuals and communities experiencing a job loss, under-employment or a decline in business.

We decided to research the impact of conversation on people in transition and designed a two day workshop event titled Bridge to the Future: Communities in Transition.

In May 2009, we convened our first conversation on the economic situation affecting many of us. We met, in Lake Forest Park Washington, sponsored by Friends of Third Place Books. You can view a slide show here about the event. There was also a graphic facilitator documenting the event. You may be able to view that at Picassa .

Our Vision:

We are addressing the needs of people and communities in transition by fostering a shift from isolation to community.

Our Mission:

We are holding conversations that lead to a greater sense of self during transtition and an action plan for going forward in ambigous times.

There are many methods we could use in thesr dialogues. Here are three that I've been exposed to.........

What other methods would you suggest we consider for this project?

Over the past couple years I've become more and more involved with the PS area non-profits that already exist. I hope we will consider ways to leverage the wealth of good causes already organized and underway.

Looks like our date is set for Monday, May 11, 8 am to noon, and Tuesday, May 12, 1 - 5 pm. We need a title and a two sentence description for the Friends of Third Place Commons publication.

Just so you all know, pbwiki is changing my account from a trial to a "basic" service. So, tomorrow this will not look orange and the security settings will change. I am not sure what the layout effects will be. Just be aware that things will look different.

Spoke with Sarah Philips today at the City of Lake Forest Park. She had already heard what we are going from Constance. I invited her to particpate and bring in her knowledge of the community. She is the community liason to the city of LFP. She is also going to circulate the flier electronically.

Some one emailed me today - a participant who asked if this would be a good opportunity for networking. I told him is was and suggested it was "networking plus". Does that make sense to all of you?
